Meet the composer #3 A music inspired by Vivaldi

Inspired by Vivaldi’s “L’Inverno”, the pieces composed by Valentina Scheldhofen Ciardelli for the PASS performance are dedicated to the four partner countries of the project: Finland, Greece, Italy and the Czech Republic. Each piece integrates melodic elements from the original work, adapting them to the expressive needs of different groups of performers, including deaf and blind artists, for a truly inclusive 360° experience. The journey culminates in Mosaic, a composition that weaves together some of the most iconic folk melodies from the four participating countries. 🎭 We’re getting closer! The show will premiere in Parma on March 24 at 4 pm before going on tour to Greece, the Czech Republic, and Finland! 🎥 Find out more in the video

READ the transcription of Valentina’s words in the video:

For the project I had the opportunity to write four pieces, inspired, however, by Vivaldi’s “L’Inverno”

Each piece is dedicated to a Country, respectively Greece, the Czech Republic and Finland.

And let’s say they contain the various melodic elements of each movement of the Inverno, but they are varied according to the expressive needs of each group of performers.

For example, there is a group that includes deaf performers, and others who are blind, and so I have included for each type of disability, in order to have an inclusiveness of all-round performers, elements for example much more visual, or elements more characterised by feeling vibrations…

Then the last piece, on the other hand, is a mash up, let’s say – in a somewhat popular way – of songs, each of which comes from the four Countries involved in the project, that are, Italy, the Czech Republic, Greece and Finland, and they are four songs that are very popular even outside these Countries. Italy has chosen the song Bella Ciao, which is very famous even abroad.

The title of this last piece is ‘Mosaic’, because it is precisely a mosaic of colours that come from these four Countries, such as the wheat of the Czech Republic, the snowy forests of Finland, the sun of Greece and then the artistic background of Italy.
